Tea Question

So, 'tis the season for me to freeze everywhere I go. Those of you who have ever had to pay for oil heat in a completely insulation-free home in the northeast know the pain that I feel in the winter. The apartment is constantly about 62 degrees, I wear sweaters over sweaters and socks and slippers. I leech the kitties' heat and make as much comfort food as possible (tonight - roasted root vegetables!). My nose, toes, and fingers will be freezy-cold from now until late April. Ugh.

This is also the time when I drink lots and lots of tea. I used to just buy box after box of Salada tea (100 bags for $3.99! or something ridiculous like that), but my tastes have evolved and I've branched out more. Early Grey is my favorite by far, and I have a pretty good stash of various teas. There's a TeaLuxe in Harvard Square, which I love, but I'm looking for others' opinions. Any tea you can't do without when the weather is cold? I tend to steer away from very fruity types, but I'm flexible.

Other cold weather thing: for the first time since last spring, I got up and I was covered in goosebumps until my car warmed up. So, when I got out of the warm (down-covered) bed at 6:15, until pulling out of the driveway at 6:40, I was a goose-pimply zombie. Stupid Cold Monday! I hate you, and if you were a person I would perpetrate a swift round-house kick to your face!!!

Wow - bless you for freezing in the name of financial prudentness. I would pretty much sell my blood or hair to raise the money so that I can stay warm all the time :)

As for tea, B and I are trying to find the green tea we had recently at a Japanese restaurant. It tasted much different from the regular green teas you can buy and we're wondering if it's because it was authentic. So I recently bought some from the International aisle, I'll let you know how it goes.

OK, so in the name of gas prices, perhaps a remote car starter is out of the question, but I do love mine. It's nice to get into a warm car!

I love Earl Greyer, a different take on Earl Grey. I forget who makes it, but I'll let you know. And green tea--so nice. Also just love crushing up mint leaves and pouring hot water and honey in there. So nice! It's my way of getting free trade tea, which I'm attempting to do from now on.

I love me some tea. Warm thoughts your way!

I'm with die Frau: peppermint tea is awesome. I'm also on the free-trade wagon. Chai tea is my other fave. Not necessarily in latte form, just normal chai tea is great, too. The Husband's uncle says "chai tea" is redundant; that chai means tea. I don't know if this is true, but you might want to check it out before revealing MY ignorance to whomever you buy your tea from. :)

I had a chance to taste some Australian tea called Daintree, which is from Queensland, after a friend brought me back some from Australia. It's so good that B bought me two bags of it for a gift one year online. It smells amazing and it's a great pick me up in the morning or whenever you need a caffeine fix.
