Patriot's Day - a fine fake holiday

If I have to think of one image to sum up yesterday, it might be this:
Yeah. There was a lot of that.
There was a lot of other stuff, too. Lots of working on the house, seeing people I like, hanging out watching The Muppets (OH! THE MUPPETS!), but this beer was right in the middle of all of it. Thanks, beer. You're always there for me.

I had a pretty full weekend, which might explain why I'm so tired now, that the actual week has begun. Friday night I went to a terrific dinner with E and J at Chez Henri, then we went to a party hosted by their friends. Saturday I mostly did cleaning-up around the house stuff (and that's where the Muppets happened). Sunday the Man came home from skiing/hiking and we spent some time at Home Depot. We also made grand plans for the yard and the house and spent tens of thousands of dollars in our heads while sitting on the porch drinking wine and eating pizza. Yum.

Yesterday I had off from work and the Man took a half day so we could grab some lunch and see some of the runners finishing the marathon. I cannot believe how much energy people still have after running 26.2 miles. It's crazy that some of these people were still actually jogging at the finish line. And then you would see one of them later, and they were acting normally, not begging for a beer iv and downing a bag of salt and vinegar potato chips. Unbelievable.
After watching we walked by the river for awhile. You'd think it was super romantic but we mostly talked about city-wide waste-disposal and why there's no law against men being naked from the waist up.
Still, this guy's wicked cute:
Right?
Once we got back to Davis Square we met some friends for several beers, and then I went to dinner with K, from the theatre, and had even more to drink. Drinky drinky drink drink.

And now I'm back at work, where I'll bet you anything, there will be less drinking. Boo.

I don't see how you can call any day where people are encouraged to sit around, watch sports, and drink beer a "fake" holiday. Sounds pretty darn real to me.
