The Last Airblower

No, It was really The Last Airbender. But there was definitely some blowing going on, if you know what I mean*.

I Netflixed it because it's an M. Night Shyamalan movie, and I've liked his stuff in the past. And! It seemed so popular when it came out...
I wasn't even going to make the Man watch it because it looked a little too Sci-Fi for him. I thought The Game (Michael Douglas/Debra Unger) was supposed to come yesterday. But no. Then I re-read the description: a live-action movie based on a videogame? Erg: not promising.

It was bad. Really, really bad. The script sounded as if it was written by moderately-literate teenagers. The child actors were charming and attractive, but that's it. The adults (the ones I recognized from movies I would actually watch again) looked chagrined to be in the movie.

I won't tell you what happened. Not so much because of spoilers, but because I only kind of understand what happened.
When the credits came at the end and I saw that M. Night had written the movie, well... it was a sad time.

Thank Jeebus for Netflix. You can get a movie, judge a movie, send back a movie. And there are still so many movies left to see.

Anyone seen any great movies recently? New or old? My Netflix queue is dwindling...

*No it wasn't porn. Perv!

Yes, Airbender looked dismal. Ok, have you seen The Wrestler? If not, get that, it's amazing. IF you like it, AND you liked Requiem for a Dream, then you should try this little gem I found recently called "The Fountain" (same directer as the other two movies). The plot is, well, not it's strong point, BUT the *acting* by Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz, oh oh so good.

Sh*t. It's waiting in our mailbox. The fountain is based on what is apparently a really good book.

I did like The Wrestler. I cannot get through RfaD, but I have always been intrigued by The Fountain. I'm happy about the good recommendation. I'll Netflix it. Thanks!
