Circus circus

I don't think I've mentioned it here before but I want 2011 to be my

YEAR OF ADVENTURE

That's right. I want to DO more stuff. I want to experience. I want to eat, drink, see, perform. I want to take it all in AND participate.

Last night I went to a bohemian circus at The Oberon in Harvard Square. There were dancers and hula-hoopers and I saw a woman doing acrobatics while suspended on a sash fifteen feet in the air. I saw another woman do what I can only describe as a yogic dance on top of some very small raised blocks of wood. I saw a guy juggling grapefruits while standing on another guy's shoulders. I heard a local band/orchestra* play Nine Inch Nails songs and the bar song from Star Wars. I danced and laughed and let my mouth hang agape in awe. ADVENTURE.

This weekend I'm going with J and A to New York City. We'll listen to wonderful music** and I hope to eat things I've never eaten and drink things I've never drunk before. We'll walk around in the icy air and appreciate that we are living in a time when friends who live hundreds of miles away from each other can get together for the weekend with little disruption*** to their regular lives. Also, we'll be driving in New York City. And to the airport. ADVENTURE.

Please do let me know if you have any other ideas for adventures that you'd like to indulge. I'm all ears.

*Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band. Fantastic
**Ryan Montbleau Band. Also fantastic.
***I'm trying to let disruption seem like less of a problem, and more of an opportunity. This could be tough for me.
