Q: Who’s tired with a sore throat from yelling?
A: Me! (I know, you saw that coming).
You guys, I never stay out past midnight on a school night*. Last night I got home at 12:15 and didn’t get to sleep until 1:00ish.
*HA ha ha ah ah HA! HA HA HA HA and also Ha. This makes it sound like midnight is my curfew and I regularly stay out until then. No. NO-ho-ho-ho. I rarely stay out past 9:30 on week nights because no where is more than one half hour from my apartment and that way I can still be in bed, teeth brushed, by 10pm. That’s more like it…
But last night was a DANCE OFF at the Oberon in Harvard Square. DANCE. OFF! I went with J, J, and A, and later M showed up. I know you may not know them, but these women are beautiful and fun and dance-y. The people at the club were all dressed pretty funky, particularly the contestants, who included people dressed like a doctor, a ref, a school teacher, someone out of that Dead Presidents movie, and this guy who looked like the goat-wizard character from Pan’s Labyrinth crossed with the Gimp from Pulp Fiction. Anyway, the dancing was very hard core and awesome and we danced like crazy until later than I am accustomed. It was great. Except at the end, A popped me in the nose while dancing to Beyoncé – but the night was pretty much over anyway. We all gave sweaty goodbye hugs and went our separate ways. Once I got home, sore throat and ears ringing, I was so happy to fall into bed. The cats performed some acrobatics at first, one time one of them leaped onto my neck (seriously, imagine a 20lb hairy weight landing on, and then launching off of your neck) and that kind of sucked, but still, it was a really good night.
Today I am tired from all the shaking of it, and also I sound a bit like George Burns after a cigar, but whatevs. There’s only 8.5 hours before I get to go home and lounge on the couch. I know there are plans for tonight, but I’m not sure what they are or when they start, so I’m going to assume that there’s time for me to kick back and rest my eyes… just for a minute.
EDITED TO ADD: One of the staff at the Oberon danced exactly like Mr. Ouiser did in college, and J and I had much fun pointing this out to one another throughout the course of the night. Oh, gangly, flailing limbs!

M will be happy to know that the two of you were thinking of him. One has to love those ridiculous flailing limbs!!
Oh, I loved the whole thing, but that last bit was just the icing on the cake. i do love me some gangly, flailing limbs!
Catching up on this blog & I realized that I totally took pictures with M's camera that would have complemented it SO WELL. I wonder if she ever got those downloaded...? The pictures of the Beyonce dancing (before the punch in the face) are quite lovely, as the 3 of you are doing that dance from "All the Single Ladies" and it's SO GOOD ;-)
